Went to Lake Amador and kayak fished on 1/29 & 1/30.
1/29:
Weather: High 50s/low 60s. Calm, little to no wind, sunny conditions. Storm just passed.
Water: 54 degrees, stained, visibility seemed about 5ft, lots of floating debris scattered.
Fishing: Started topwater trolling off the kayak 2.5mph with Speedy Shiners. No bites. Switched to Flicker 5s in Fire Tiger & Rainbow Trout patterns, slowed speed to 1.8-2mph, targeted 8-10ft deep. No bites. Switched to smaller Dynamic HD minnows, trolled at 1.8 - caught a bass. Tried a bunch of other baits, threw the BFS gear with jigs, micro spoons, and jerkbaits, with no success. Spoke to several other kayakers, shore anglers, and boat anglers… tough day overall for everyone.
1/30:
Weather: High 50s/low 60s. Calm, little to no wind, overcast conditions. Next storm rolling in on 1/31.
Water: Same as above.
Fishing: Amazing what 1 day makes. Started off trolling nightcrawlers behind dodgers, 1/4oz dropper weight at 1.5mph. Had some hits. My buddy landed a couple doing the same technique. We were fishing the area in front of Jackson Arm. Switched over to micro hard baits and caught 4 between 12-1pm. The trout were hitting Flicker 4 shads, Dynamic HD lures, and other smaller minnow baits trolled between 2-8ft deep. Anything deeper or bigger (ie Flicker 5) didn’t get hit. No luck on the BFS jigs or spoons.
Hope this helps. Tight lines!
